How come the whole world uses Arabic numerals?

They are the official numeral system in most countries of the world. How come they don't use their own numbers? It's like you would be reading any language in the world and suddenly see 1,2,3,4... If they developed their own writing system (alphabets, characters) and use them then why not their numbers?
